A word from Dr. Belton

For my dear patients:

Dear friend,

Thank you for visiting this site that Dr. Rosenberg has published as a welcome to you! We both understand that transitions are difficult and want to ease your mind as much as we possibly can. We also understand that the relationship between a woman and her gynecologist is an important one and one that is not easily replaced. Hence, this extra effort at making this as comfortable as is humanly possible.

I want you to know that my transition out of a private practice was made much easier (in some ways was only made possible) by Dr. Rosenberg’s willingness to accept the transfer of my patients into his practice. I have known him for many years both by reputation and also by directly working together, alongside one another in surgery and in labor and delivery. I can attest to his great surgical skills and instincts as well as his overall excellent clinical judgment both in gynecology and obstetrics. He is very well respected in our department by other physicians as well as by our nursing colleagues and I can assure you I would not refer my own daughters to someone I did not truly trust and respect! So I have complete confidence that you will be well taken care of obstetrically or gynecologically.

However, there is more to medical care than technical expertise and knowledge and that is the empathy and compassion with which we approach patient care. You have become used to a certain level of this extra sense of being cared for in my office that is unfortunately not the norm anymore. However, Dr. Rosenberg and his staff also know about, care about, and work very hard in this area as well. You should feel the same level of caring with his office as you have experienced in mine. He and his staff are responsive to patients and their needs.

I count it a great privilege to have been part of your care team these past years. You have enriched my life beyond measure. Mine is a great specialty which I feel blessed to have practiced for these twenty-plus years. But now it is time for me to move on – to another area of medicine that is calling. International medicine gives me the opportunity to share with doctors and nurses in faraway places the knowledge and experience I have acquired in a way that will increase and multiply my gifts far beyond anything I could ever accomplish by myself in direct patient care. Also, the individuals we serve on these trips are often poor, displaced, unloved and ignored and my participation on these teams allows me to bring a special and meaningful touch to individuals.

If you are so inclined I would appreciate your prayers and good thoughts. I will long remember my years on Samaritan Drive with fondness, a smile on my face, and tears of joy and compassion in my eyes.

Blessings,
Steve Belton
